A few words

from our

founder

When I first started NUTRIBEINGS as a registered dietitian (RD) and as a public health nutritionist in London, I realised that effective nutrition coaching goes FAR BEYOND calories in vs calories out but the decision made by clients were very psychological. I felt like I was speaking French to English speaking clients.

When I understood the psychology of human behaviour and clients’ “why” and the “why behind their why”, I truly connected to the client and together, we made a lasting positive impact in all domains of their life. That’s when I knew that NUTRIBEINGS was not only helping people’s nutrition and lifestyle but we were creating lifelong changes in their lives.

When I started to receive feedback from clients all across the world who were thrilled by the benefits and impact they experienced since they began their journey with us, the focus was rarely physical transformation only but the pursuit of a feeling (e.g., feeling happier, feeling fulfilled). Clients reported changes in their mental health and wellbeing, work life, relationships, family and more, which implied that their nutritional journey was the trigger and channel to something deeper – a better life.

Are nutritionists more qualified than dieticians?

Dieticians have more robust qualifications than nutritionists. Here’s why:

Training and Credentials: The term “Dietitian” is a protected term in many countries, and for good reason. To become a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), they undergo a rigorous academic program (usually a postgraduate approved degree in dietetics + supervised practice) and pass a national board exam. Register dietitians must keep up-to-date through compulsory Continuing Professional Development to be on the register. This stringent process ensures that only the most qualified individuals can bear this title. In contrast, the term “nutritionist” isn’t always regulated. This means that anyone might call themselves one, potentially with minimal training.

Focus: Dieticians are uniquely qualified to treat individuals with medical conditions. Their expertise allows them to assess, diagnose, and create personalised dietary plans to manage these conditions. This specialised knowledge is crucial when it comes to addressing specific health concerns. On the other hand, nutritionists can provide guidance on general healthy eating habits but are not qualified to tailor special dietary programmes for medical conditions.

Scope of Practice: Dieticians have a wide scope of practice, working in hospitals, clinics, and even research. Their expertise allows them to manage complex medical nutrition needs, demonstrating their versatility and depth of knowledge. Conversely, nutritionists may work in broader areas like public health, fitness centres, or as personal coaches. While they can provide valuable guidance, their scope might be more limited to general health and wellness.

In short, while both can offer dietary advice, dietitians have a stronger foundation in science and clinical practice and are qualified to address medical needs through diet.

At Nutribeings, our founder’s Sonam Hitendre’s qualifications include:

  • MSc Nutrition and Dietetics RD (Registered Dietitian in United Kingdom)
  • MSc Public Health Nutrition MPH (Public Health Nutritionist)
  • Certified Dietitian Nutrition Coach
  • Certified Fertility Dietitian

Whilst her nutrition clinic is based in London, United Kingdom, she extends her expertise globally by offering remote consultations to clients across Europe and Dubai.

Can a dietician help with emotional eating or an eating disorders?

Engaging the services of a dietitian in Dubai can yield significant benefits in the treatment and management of eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and binge eating. Their expertise in nutrition is instrumental in helping individuals establish healthy eating patterns, conquer their food fears and gain food freedom. They are adept at creating personalised meal plans that cater to nutritional requirements while respecting individual preferences. Moreover, they provide invaluable support in identifying triggers for unhealthy eating behaviours and devising coping strategies to combat them. They often work in partnership with psychologists and doctors to address both the physical and emotional aspects of this disorder. With their guidance and compassionate approach, individuals with eating disorders can rebuild a positive relationship with food and achieve a healthy weight in a safe and controlled manner, leading to a more sustainable recovery.

Can a dietician help with fertility?

A fertility dietician in Dubai can significantly support your journey towards conception. Understanding the link between nutrition and reproductive health can create a personalised plan to optimise your body’s environment for a healthy pregnancy. This might involve regulating hormones through strategic food choices and supplements, ensuring a balanced intake of nutrients vital for sperm and egg health. Fertility dietitian can also address weight concerns and help with medical conditions management such as polycystic ovary syndrome or diabetes that can impact fertility outcomes. They can also guide your partner, as a healthy diet plays a key role in sperm quality as well. Can a dietician help with Food Allergies?

A dietician can be a valuable asset in managing food allergies. They can advise you in creating a safe and balanced diet that excludes your allergens while ensuring you get all the nutrients your body needs. Dieticians can help you navigate food labels, decipher hidden ingredients, and discover creative substitutions to keep your meals enjoyable. They can also offer tips on meal planning, grocery shopping, and even coping with the emotional aspects of food allergies. With their expertise, you can feel empowered to manage your allergies and live a fulfilling life.

Can a nutritionist help with sports nutrition?

A qualified nutritionist in Dubai can be a game-changer for your sports nutrition. Dieticians are skilled healthcare professionals with extensive knowledge about food, exercise, and the body’s needs. They can create a personalised plan that factors in your specific sport, training intensity, and goals. This plan will ensure you get the right balance of carbohydrates, protein, fats, and other nutrients to optimise your performance, recovery, and overall health. Dietitians can also help you navigate common sports nutrition challenges like hydration and meal timing and debunk myths about fad diets or supplements. With their expertise, you can fuel your body for peak performance and avoid potential health risks.

Does a nutritionist give me a meal plan?

A nutritionist may develop a meal plan for you, but it often depends on your situation and area of expertise. Here’s a breakdown:

Goal-oriented: Dieticians or qualified nutritionists frequently create personalised meal plans to address specific goals. These could include weight management, managing a health condition like diabetes, or starting a new special diet such as South Asian Vegetarian Diet.

Focus on guidance: Instead of a rigid plan, they provide a framework with portion sizes, food groups, and recipe ideas. This empowers you to make healthy choices that fit your lifestyle and preferences.

Sustainability matters: Dubai dieticians understand restrictive plans are challenging to maintain. They’ll likely create a plan that incorporates your favourite foods and teaches you healthy habits for long-term success.

Here’s the key takeaway: While a meal plan is possible, a nutritionist typically offers broader guidance tailored to your needs. This can be even more helpful in establishing sustainable, healthy eating patterns.
